A free online crafting workshop for children, join us as we make a Viking pot!  You can choose your material – modelling clay, Play Doh, plasticine or home-made salt dough (recipe provided).

If you want to make salt dough (not edible!) for your very own Viking pot during the livestream (adult supervision is strongly recommended!), you’ll need a few ingredients to hand. We’ll go through the ‘method’ during the livestream!

Ingredients: make these the cheapest you can, you do not need expensive ingredients for this.

one cupful of plain flour (about 250g)
half a cupful of table salt (about 125g)
half a cupful of water (about 125ml)

If you have proper tools to use on clay, that’s fine but you might like to hunt out some things to decorate your pot with. You can use twigs and leaves, string, coins and patterned buttons, bottle tops, an old toothbrush or comb, pencils or an old plastic fork. Always get permission from an adult before you use anything that you find. Nobody wants a toothbrush or their comb covered in clay! Make sure buttons are loose and not attached to clothing. Don’t forget, get permission before you use anything.
